CCPHVAC - tips on choosing HVAC

4 Things to Consider When Choosing HVAC

Many things need to be considered when you think about installing HVAC or air conditioning. Here are four of the main ones that will need an extra bit of consideration before you make your final decision.

1. Installation Price

When you replace or install a new A/C or HVAC system, there are two costs: the price of the equipment and the price of installation. It’s extremely important to get multiple quotes, so you have a means for comparison. Please make sure all quotes are identical in the works they quote for so they can be accurately compared. Ask for the quote to be as detailed as possible. As them to include clearing all old equipment and any making good of finished that are disturbed during the install.

Most importantly get a written copy of the quote via hard copy or in an email. When you accept the works, it will be this quote that you use to check you are getting everything that was agreed.

2. A/C unit size

The size of the equipment to be installed is crucial to achieving optimum comfortability. Make sure the equipment is large enough to cool down or heat up space, but not so large it wastes electricity. A system that is too big for your home will turn on and off more frequently, consuming much more electricity and reducing its overall efficiency. If the equipment is too small, it will not be able to heat or cool the areas properly and put overall strain on the equipment as it is always pushing to achieve the temperature you are looking for.

Before recommending the units, the CCP HVAC will come to your property to do a load calculation. This will help us to consider the size of your property in square feet, the amount of insulation in your home and other factors to determine the correct size unit.

3. Equipment Energy Efficiency

The efficiency of HVAC equipment is measured by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). It is highly recommended that when a new system is being selected that the latest material possible is chosen. The efficiency of stuff is changing with every new model that is released.

This works better for you in two main ways. It helps to keep your energy bills down, and it also helps to ensure the equipment gets to the desired temperature as quickly as possible.

4. Air Conditioner Maintenance

Your efficient and modern system has now been installed. It would be best if you now considered the servicing of the equipment. Just like your car, the equipment needs to be serviced to keep it running its best. Lots of mechanical parts in HVAC equipment and these need to be regularly maintained. There are some minor servicing tasks you can complete yourself, and you can check these here.

During the selection of equipment for your install, one of the questions you should ask is “what is the manufacturer’s warranty of the equipment.”

HVAC manufacturers recommend yearly maintenance. Failure to maintain your unit may void the warranty that came with the equipment. Ask us to include within the installation quote a maintenance contract. This will help to give you peace of mind. Piece of mind that any small issues that crop up can be quickly sorted.

What to do next

By following these three simple tips getting HVAC installed and keeping the equipment running its best is simpler than you thought, right?
